The Office of Security is looking for an energetic, innovative Security Specialist who will enjoy working in a dynamic and mission driven organization as a member of the Secretary of Commerce’s Executive Protection Team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in promoting and implementing a vision that fosters organizational excellence. This position requires the ability to perform all facets of executive/dignitary protection missions to include planning, advances and movements with a principal; the ability to develop, evaluate and implement organizational policies
and procedures for an executive protection detail (or protective operations); and skill in planning and presenting sensitive, complex or controversial briefings, assessments, and reports for senior management officials. The incumbent will also resolve conflicts, and gain support for a common goal, including all facets of executive/dignitary protection missions, development and implementation of strategies that anticipate customer needs, and the execution of vital change initiatives.


The selected candidate will play an important role in providing security management solutions for the Department of Commerce, Office of Security (OSY) in support of Departmental operations throughout the country at the Headquarters location and various regional and field offices. These duties will assist OSY and Department officials in providing a secure working environment to protect personnel, assets and information. This position will directly support and provide advice to management on aspects of various assigned OSY security programs to enhance security services, depending on the needs of the agency.

The Band III is equivalent to the Grades 11/12 on the GS pay scale between the salary ranges of $63,091 - $98,305. A one-year probationary period may be required.

Duties
As a member of the Secretary’s Executive Security Protection Team, the selected candidate will support the Department’s goal of keeping the Secretary and his/her designees safe from the very real threat of harm. This includes overseeing the travel plans of the Secretary and ensuring proper protection before, during and after arrival at designated stops; handling security before and during visits and stops; and ensuring that all laws and policies, including federal, state, local, and international, are followed. The selected candidate will also guide policy and programmatic efforts in the areas of executive protection by advising operating unit heads and other senior-level officials on matters related to security, intelligence, law enforcement and other executive protection related procedures.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Implementing day-to-day operations of executive protection functions;
Traveling both domestically and internationally with the Secretary and other heads of state and dignitaries;
Investigating criminal acts against Departmental personnel and property;
Providing guidance to top management officials, and interpreting regulations which impact the Department; and
Maintaining liaisons with appropriate internal and external entities to enhance the full range of Departmental security programs.
