Executive Protection Specialist

Position Summary
The Executive Protection (EP) Specialist provides daily coverage for designated Principals / Protectees, assets and interests on a worldwide basis. Responsibilities include threat assessment, preplanning activities for regular and special events, coordination with various service providers, and providing close personal protection to the principles. These services may require long hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Candidates must be willing to travel worldwide, oftentimes on short notice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safeguards designated Principals, assets and interests from all forms of security and safety hazards on a 24hour 7day per week basis.
  • Assists in the development of tools and assets required for a successful and consistent execution of the operational coverage plan.
  • Communicates and coordinates operational information in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conducts and provides timely written documentation on site surveys, advances and After Action Reviews (AAR’s) for domestic and international events.
  • Reports on operational planning, execution and assigned administrative tasks and responsibilities.
  • Conduct risk assessments for domestic events and international travel and determines specific security needs of the Principals.
  • Proactively develops strategies and plans to identify and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Ensures that the Principals itinerary is executed in familiar and unfamiliar territory to the satisfaction of the owners.
  • Orchestrates and manages security protocol in domestic and foreign locations by coordinating with security contractors and law enforcement.
  • Uses discretion and judgment in procuring and facilitating elite and/or expedited services.
  • Uses independent judgment regarding financial matters and decisions in the field.
  • Ensures exception deployment of plans that keep Protectees safely in their comfort zone while maintaining a prestigious environment.
  • Acts as driver and follow agent for Principals, to include ensuring vehicles are appropriate and in safe, operational condition prior to movements.
  • Provide first responder emergency assistance to Principals until such time that professional emergency services arrive.
  • Coordinates and communicates with other Vulcan employees and contractors to support global EP operations.
  • Participates in emergency operations exercises.
  • May be asked to perform various personal service duties including but not limited to errands, shopping, walking the dog and securing tickets to various events.
  • Represent company in an appropriate professional manner on and off duty.
  • Completes other projects and tasks as assigned

  • Ability to demonstrate common sense, flexibility, attention to detail, and discretion while delivering superior service to Principal and/or Guests.
  • Ability to manage and properly document expenditures and financial reports relating to operations and travel support.
  • Must be able to quickly adapt to challenging circumstances and work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to meet aggressive timelines in a highly-dynamic, cross disciplinary environment.
  • Must have exceptional problem solving skills and be able to prioritize and manage task independently and to exhibit leadership in solving operational challenges. Capacity for proactive and strategic thinking and a track record demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, organizational leadership and results-oriented attitude to influence outcomes.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team demonstrating appropriate judgment and decision making to mitigate risk to principals and the company.
  • Must be able to travel international on short notice; includes overnight and extended travel requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the company and principal with a high level of professionalism, discretion and integrity in both public and private settings.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as skiing/boarding, rafting, horseback riding, scuba diving, hiking, various water sports and operating small watercraft preferred.
  • Previous experience providing Executive Protection for private, high-net-worth families; government officials or diplomats preferred.

Education/experience/certifications
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution and 3 plus years operational experience in an Executive Protection field OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Intelligence degree preferred
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or EP Specialist Certification preferred.

Special remarks regarding work environment, if applicable
  • Travel estimated to be 50%, frequent domestic and international travel will be required. May be required to travel up to 30 days at a time.
  • Must poses a US Passport and driver’s license.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a concealed/carry weapons permit: This person may be required to carry a firearm while performing duties. Maintaining firearms proficiency, when required.
  • Ability to obtain a national Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification.
  • Fiscal and administrative reporting required.
  • Must be in excellent health and physical condition and have uncorrected vision (at least 20/60 binocular; correctable to 20/20 in each eye.)
  • This position will undergo a stringent background investigation that includes but not limited to) in-depth interviews, drug screening, physical fitness test and medical examination.
  • The Executive Protection team are required to complete and pass an EMT course in a timeframe determined by the Program manager.
  • Must be able to cover all visible body markings (including but not limited to tattoos, body art, and branding)
  • Work hours will extend past normal business hours: you must be able to work long hours in undesirable conditions and on short notice.
  • Must be willing and able to relocate to duty stations throughout the US and aboard as requested b the organization.
