Our client is one of the leading precious metals producers in the continent. They are listed on various stock exchanges. They are currently on a search for a high profile Head of Protection Services
The purpose of the role is to safely implement and manage the effective provision of security services to mineral resources to ensure the protection of employees, products, assets and interests at-source
from crime, non-compliance, misuse, waste, negligence and unethical practices across the value chain (Exploration, Mining, Process and in-transit (on roads, air-space and across borders)
Key Accountabilities:
- Create a safe and secure business and operational environment on surface and underground.
- Deploy security measures that successfully eliminate opportunities for integrity compromise and create a working environment which is not conducive to criminality.
- Prevent the growing threat of industrial espionage and illegal eavesdropping and surveillance.
- Enable the company, its employees and other stakeholders to carry out business free from illicit threat and unlawful interference.
- Ensure Protection Services utilises competent security employees, fit-for-purpose equipment and Safe effective work practices.
- Derive maximum value from all security assets, systems and human resources.
- Manage the at-risk company products on public roads and air space to ensure early warning for crime.
- Ensure that security at the mine is approached as a holistic enterprise involving people, processes, technology, and how they all interact.
- Continuously measure the impact of crime on business and fully understand the effectiveness of security strategies.
- Implement sound security strategies and ensure that effective security standards, policies, procedures and guidelines are in place.
- Ensure that product(s) physical security measures gradually increase as the value of the products(s) increases and as the degree of security threats increase.
- Manage the investigation of Tip-off anonymous and all complex crimes.
- Manages the Protection Services Training centre and develops the performance of the team in line with new crime threats and company values.
- Clearly list the dimension of the position, using quantifiable metrics where possible. Include Budgets, Geography, Time horizons, Area of Impact, Strategic/Operational metrics, People and technical deliverables)
Required abilities:
· Protection services related Higher degree (RPL can be applied to recognise skills obtained through short courses and experience)
· Registered with Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority Grade A/Medical Bureau Certificate
· Higher management degree such as MBA will be advantageous
· At least ten years Protection Services management experience at least five of which should be in the mining industry.
· No legal restriction with respect to owning or using of fire arms
· No criminal record
· Multi-functional Project management
· Computer skills for the role including MIS
