Global Security Manager (Executive Manager )

This position is responsible for directing all Global Security activities (investigations, information security, physical security, executive protection and crisis management) within an assigned geographic area. The incumbent will provide support for business operations through effective management of security operations. The position is also expected to work aggressively with local management, local law enforcement and service establishments to develop and implement proactive fraud prevention policies, procedures and programs. This position is also accountable for the provision of professional, cost effective
physical security services for all American Express facilities within the assigned area covering all areas of the American Express business. Responsibilities include development, communication and enforcement of security policies for employees, contractors, vendors and visitors.
  • Executive Protection
  • Coordinate and support the CEO and other senior executives travelling in the assigned geographic area.
  • Coordinate with Event Planners at all off-site business group functions involving large groups of AXP employees in the assigned geographic area.
  • Coordinate with Aviation and arrange local transportation as required by assignment.
  • Coordinate with local emergency, security, hotel staff, and medical providers as needed by assignment.
  • Conduct advance preparation planning visits in order to create an effective security plan.
  • Assess physical risk during assignment and adjust profile and response during assignment.
  • Conduct post-event sweep to safeguard privacy and protect AXP interests.
  • Investigations o Direct, coordinate and personally conduct investigations of suspected internal and external fraud against American Express.
  • Contribute to the reduction and control of fraud losses by effectively directing investigations of suspected fraud against American Express and its subsidiaries.
  • Prioritize investigative requests received from the Company’s fraud control units as well as those received directly from Company management and law enforcement.
  • Possess a basic understanding of cyber investigations.
  • Physical Security o Provide advice and assistance on security and security-related matters to senior business leaders.
  • Ensure safety and security of employees, contractors, vendors and visitors.
  • Maximize the use of limited resources through continuous review of all security functions, including physical security measures, equipment and personnel.
  • Identify areas of vulnerability and develop/implement proactive plans and programs to address these areas and support the changing needs of the business.
  • Experience working with physical security equipment (e.g., access control, biometric devices, CCTV, networking applications, etc).
  • Supervise and coordinate with contract security vendor to ensure security officers are managed effectively, including facility access, monitoring alarm systems and surveillance equipment, etc.
  • Lead the local Crisis Response Team.
  • Conduct security audits and physical site reviews utilizing Security Assessment Modeling (SAM) as well as risk assessments for potentially new sites/facilities.
  • Conduct reviews of Plastic Vendor Manufacturing facilities (PVRs) Prepare SAM and PVR reports and relevant documentation.
  • Information Security o Comprehensive knowledge of information technology security and compliance controls.
  • Excellent understanding of system access controls, data privacy and encryption tools.
  • Familiarity with best practices in the corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of security systems designs and network protocols to support the business.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships at the highest level with law enforcement agencies to ensure a high degree of cooperation and support.
  • Outstanding network in the public and private sector that can be leveraged to identify and mitigate cyber and physical threats to the Company and its people.
  • Plan and monitor expenditures within a budget. Solicit bids for contract work and security equipment.
  • On call 24x7x365.
  • Complete all files by using Sword System case and incident management system in compliance with company policy.
    Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
    The incumbent must have a thorough and highly developed understanding of corporate investigations, physical security, information security, crisis management and executive protection.
    A minimum of 7 years corporate security experience is required with 5 years in a management role. Highly developed interviewing skills, strong investigative/analytical capabilities are essential along with a good understanding of the fraud environment within the assigned geographic areas. Investigations may involve any of the Company’s diverse businesses. The incumbent must be thoroughly conversant with local prosecutorial guidelines and associated criminal laws. In addition, the incumbent must have an understanding of privacy laws and the Company’s privacy code to know what information can be shared with law enforcement or other parties. He/she must have strong organizational, managerial and communication skills to effectively direct security activities in a culturally diverse work force and handle emergencies, crises and stressful situations calmly, quickly and professionally. Ability to self-motivate, lead and inspire others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals together with the ability to resolve conflict and lead by example in a team-based environment.
