We’re therefore recruiting more Armed Close Protection Officers from Home Office Police Forces (England & Wales) Police Scotland and, Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) to join our Royalty & Specialist Protection (RaSP) Command. It’s a varied and rewarding role, where you’re trusted to protect the worlds most powerful and influential people, both nationally and overseas. As part of this key Met Police specialist team, you won’t just be safeguarding London – you could be protecting lives.

RaSP provides close protection to Heads of State, Heads of Government and other dignitaries both in the UK and abroad. The role includes working with other agencies, attending venues to review security measures and produce operational plans for each deployment.

Your main task is to provide armed close protection to members of the Royal Family, senior government ministers, and visiting foreign dignitaries. Identifying potential threats and ways to minimise risks and vulnerabilities.

To join RaSP, you must be an ACPO accredited National Protection Officer and a Police Driver. You should have up-to-date Officer Safety and First Aid accreditation. You’ll also have to evidence how you’ve put your skills into action on a close protection deployment within the last 24 months.

You may be required to work long hours, often away from home, sometimes for extended periods. Clear communication, leadership and team working skills will be vital.

If you’ve got the expertise we’re looking for, we can help you develop your talents to continue to build on an impressive policing career.
