Driver Close Protection Officer , Afghanistan

Location: Afghanistan

Job Purpose:
Working under the direction of the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader, the Driver will be responsible for the transportation of the client to and from specified locations. The driver has a very important and demanding role in the team as he will be responsible for driving out of a situation if something goes wrong, it will be his ability to act on the TLs instruction to drive out of a situation.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate as a driver in a B6 armoured vehicle as part of a mobile protection team.
Assist the TL in the smooth and effective operational running of the PSD.
Assist the TL in maintaining operational oversight and control of all checks and planning requirements pertaining to quality and auditing.
Remain client focussed and professional at all times.
Remain fully aware and conversant in all procedures inclusive of Client Company
Procedures, contractual and company requirements and ensure dissemination to the team.

Responsible to measure the fuel levels and report on a weekly basis the levels.
Responsible to monitor the fuel sheets.
First and last parade the vehicle.
Ensure tyres and lights are serviceable.
Maintain cleanliness inside and out of the vehicle.
Ensure fuel levels never drop below half a tank.
Report any warning lights to TL.
Ensure jack and tools are present and work i.e jack extends.
Check oil levels daily.
Check spare wheel is serviceable.
Check tyre pressures are correct ( to include Spare

REPORTS

Assist the TL where requested in producing the following reports:
Journey management planning and Daily Flap Sheet and client brief before operations deployment;
2. Incident reports on an as and when basis.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Close Protection Qualification/Hostile Environment Training Essential.
FPOSi or equivalent qualification.
Driver’s license and clear driving record.
Management skills –leadership, analytical, decisive but consultative; capable of innovative thinking and managing change.
Communication skills – good oral and written English communication skills; capable of producing reports and presentations of a high standard.
Strong intra-personal skills – capable of galvanising a team and negotiating effectively.
Administrative Skills – strong organisational and reporting skills.
Competent in weapon systems (MP9, Sig SP2022, Smith + Wesson Pistol, M4, Glock Pistol 19 and AK 47 Weapon Series)

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
At least 5 years Military experience with excellent record of conduct.
At least 2 years Afghanistan experience as a driver.
Ability to communicate in Pashto/Dari is an advantage
Clear criminal background.
Physically and Mentally Fit.
